Information we collect

When you request a Business Check, we collect the business name, your name, the town or postcode where the business trades and your contact number. If you contact us by email or another channel, we may also collect your email address, the content of your message and any other information you choose to provide.

Our website hosting provider may collect limited technical information for security and operation, such as an IP address, browser type, device information and the date and time of a request.

How we use your information

• To administer enquiries, customer relationships and business records.
• To protect the website and our business from misuse, fraud or security threats.

Our lawful bases

We process enquiry and service information where it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, or to perform a contract with you. We also rely on our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries, administering our services and protecting our website and business, where those interests are not overridden by your rights. We process information where necessary to meet a legal obligation.

Who receives your information

We use trusted service providers to operate the website and handle communications. These currently include Formspree for processing website form submissions, Google Workspace for email and Vercel for website hosting and technical logs. They process information on our behalf under their own security and privacy arrangements.

We may disclose information where required by law, or where reasonably necessary to protect our rights, customers or the public. We do not sell personal information.

International processing

Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data protection law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

How long we keep information

We normally keep enquiry records for up to 24 months after the last contact, so we can respond properly and maintain an appropriate business record. If you become a customer, we may keep contract, transaction and related records for longer where needed for the service, legal obligations or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. Technical logs are kept according to our hosting provider’s operational and security retention periods.

Marketing

We use Business Check details to respond to the request. We will not add you to general email marketing without permission. You can ask us to stop direct marketing at any time.

Cookies and analytics

We do not currently use Google Analytics or advertising cookies on this website. Essential technologies may be used to deliver and secure the site. If we introduce optional analytics or advertising technologies, we will update this notice and provide appropriate consent controls.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your personal information, restrict or object to its use, and receive certain information in a portable format. You may also withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis.
